What is the best/wonderful invention by Japanese?

Long time ago, I was reading a book written by the woman who was involved with a exchange program between US and Japan.
And she said in her book that
"Kotatsu and hanten (Japanese jouse jacket) are the best inventions by Japanese. US has a great technology and we even sent human to the moon, but never had thought about making those great stuff such as Kotatsu and hanten"
...or something like that... I cannot remember exactly...

I think we should focus on the innovation more today. You know both hams and breads were created in the B.C. era. However, we had to wait to see Sandwitches until the 18th century. I would like to call this an innovation.
