What Does Your Room Look Like? My walls are that textured paint (has sand in it or something), and they alternate colours (a brick-red colour and a gray-ish sandy colour). I have no blinds, a mattress against my wall, a closet that's full of stuff(mainly books), a crappy little drawer, an old, small table I found, a plant, my bed (a bunk bed with a lot of clothes on the top bed), and a little lamp that hardly gives off light that my mom found at her workplace (was about to be thrown out), one of those wooden figurines artists use to draw people, a framed map of Edo, and random crap strewn about my floor. Nothing else. XD LOL My room is so crappy right now, but I'm about to get some nice new furniture. A book case, a new drawer, shelves, a couple good lamps...So happy. LOL Stranger danger? Knowing what your room looks like doesn't mean anything besides that someone knows what your room looks like. My room, i painted my walls BRIGHT white, (they werr beige before) and I got a black modern dresser, a red chair with circles in them, curvy mirrors, black modern side table, two lamps(silver lamp, and the lamp shade is like a long rectangle and its white, and a silver line to pull to turn it on) one for my side table and one for on top of my dresser, and a cute vintage clock, all from ikea. then i have a grey bed spread with white poka dots, the poka dots arnt EVERYWHERE there just here and there, then red and silver accent pillows, then i have white poka dot curtains and red curtains, i have two white fuzzy rugs, a black desk(that my red chair goes too) and my flat screen is on the wall. :] i hope you likee! <33 xoxo

Random Access Memory

RAM is Random Access Memory. RAM is the area where your computer stores programs that you are currently running and data that you are currently working on.

RAM can be contrasted with disk storage. Disk storage holds all of your programs and all of your data -- whether you are working with them or not. When you turn off your computer, the contents of RAM instantly disappear, but the contents of your disk storage remain unharmed.

RAM is also sometimes contrasted with ROM. ROM (Read Only Memory) are memory chips which have had information stored on them which cannot be changed.

How big is RAM?

RAM is small, both in physical size (it's stored in microchips) and in the amount of data it can hold. It's much smaller than your hard disk. A typical computer may come with 256 million bytes of RAM and a hard disk that can hold 40 billion bytes. RAM comes in the form of "discrete" (meaning separate) microchips and also in the form of modules that plug into holes in the computer's motherboard. These holes connect through a bus or set of electrical paths to the processor. The hard drive, on the other hand, stores data on a magnetized surface that looks like a phonograph record.

Most personal computers are designed to allow you to add additional RAM modules up to a certain limit. Having more RAM in your computer reduces the number of times that the computer processor has to read data in from your hard disk, an operation that takes much longer than reading data from RAM. (RAM access time is in nanoseconds; hard disk access time is in milliseconds.)

Types of RAM

The following are some common types of RAM:

• SRAM: Static random access memory uses multiple transistors, typically four to six, for each memory cell but doesn't have a capacitor in each cell. It is used primarily for cache.
• DRAM: Dynamic random access memory has memory cells with a paired transistor and capacitor requiring constant refreshing.
• FPM DRAM: Fast page mode dynamic random access memory was the original form of DRAM. It waits through the entire process of locating a bit of data by column and row and then reading the bit before it starts on the next bit. Maximum transfer rate to L2 cache is approximately 176 MBps.
• EDO DRAM: Extended data-out dynamic random access memory does not wait for all of the processing of the first bit before continuing to the next one. As soon as the address of the first bit is located, EDO DRAM begins looking for the next bit. It is about five percent faster than FPM. Maximum transfer rate to L2 cache is approximately 264 MBps.
• SDRAM: Synchronous dynamic random access memory takes advantage of the burst mode concept to greatly improve performance. It does this by staying on the row containing the requested bit and moving rapidly through the columns, reading each bit as it goes. The idea is that most of the time the data needed by the CPU will be in sequence. SDRAM is about five percent faster than EDO RAM and is the most common form in desktops today. Maximum transfer rate to L2 cache is approximately 528 MBps.
• DDR SDRAM: Double data rate synchronous dynamic RAM is just like SDRAM except that is has higher bandwidth, meaning greater speed. Maximum transfer rate to L2 cache is approximately 1,064 MBps (for DDR SDRAM 133 MHZ).
• RDRAM: Rambus dynamic random access memory is a radical departure from the previous DRAM architecture. Designed by Rambus , RDRAM uses a Rambus in-line memory module (RIMM), which is similar in size and pin configuration to a standard DIMM. What makes RDRAM so different is its use of a special high-speed data bus called the Rambus channel. RDRAM memory chips work in parallel to achieve a data rate of 800 MHz, or 1,600 MBps. Since they operate at such high speeds, they generate much more heat than other types of chips. To help dissipate the excess heat Rambus chips are fitted with a heat spreader, which looks like a long thin wafer. Just like there are smaller versions of DIMMs, there are also SO-RIMMs, designed for notebook computers.
• Credit Card Memory: Credit card memory is a proprietary self-contained DRAM memory module that plugs into a special slot for use in notebook computers.
• PCMCIA Memory Card: Another self-contained DRAM module for notebooks, cards of this type are not proprietary and should work with any notebook computer whose system bus matches the memory card's configuration.
• CMOS RAM: CMOS RAM is a term for the small amount of memory used by your computer and some other devices to remember things like hard disk settings -- see Why does my computer need a battery? For details. This memory uses a small battery to provide it with the power it needs to maintain the memory contents.
• VRAM: Video RAM, also known as multiport dynamic random access memory (MPDRAM), is a type of RAM used specifically for video adapters or 3-D accelerators. The "multiport" part comes from the fact that VRAM normally has two independent access ports instead of one, allowing the CPU and graphics processor to access the RAM simultaneously. VRAM is located on the graphics card and comes in a variety of formats, many of which are proprietary. The amount of VRAM is a determining factor in the resolution and color depth of the display. VRAM is also used to hold graphics-specific information such as 3-D geometry data and texture maps. True multiport VRAM tends to be expensive, so today, many graphics cards use SGRAM (synchronous graphics RAM) instead. Performance is nearly the same, but SGRAM is cheaper.

Some Popular Japanese Sword Components The Japanese term Koshirae is a term that describes the Japanese Sword with their components being worn. This term is used to define all of the component parts, like the Tsuba and Scabbard. The Shirasaya is a term that describes the wooden sheath and grip of the sword when it's in storage. The terms are the same, but one defines being in use and the other in storage. Koshirae isn't used any longer in current speech, as the term Tsukuru has replaced it. Tsukuri means to create, to make or to manufacture. Lets explore a few of the most popular Japanese Sword Mounting pieces. The Habaki The Habaki is the piece of metal that wraps itself around the blade right above the Tsuba. The Habaki has two purposes. One is to hold the Tsuba in place, and the other is to keep the weapon inside the Scabbard or Saya. Sometimes through lots of use the Habaki can cause normal wear and tear on the sword, which will cause the owner to have to get a new Scabbard. The Saya Scabbard means Saya in Japanese, specifically in the defintion of a sword or knife. In laymens terms it is the handle of the sword. Normally these are constructed from very light wood, with a high lacquer finish. Since the wood is so light, you have to be very careful when you draw the sword, or it can slice right through the saya and slice one or more of your fingers, possibly even cut one off! One side of the Saya has a wooden knob attached to it so you can connect a braided cord known as the Sageo. The Sageo The Sageo is constructed with silk, leather or cotton. It is made to be put through the hole inside of the Kurigata, which is a hole in the Saya. Sword Masters use several different methods to wrap and tie the Sageo onto the Saya for display and cosmetic purposes. The Tsuba The Tsuba is located Right between the Habaki and right before the Saya or Scabbard. It's the guard that is round or once in a while you'll find it square, that is located at the end of the Scabbard. You'll see this a lot on Katana Swords. Weapon owners usually control the Sword by placing their right index finger on the Tsuba. It's also used to protect the hand since it prevents the hand from sliding into the blade when a thrust is given by the user. It is NOT made for the purpose of protection from an opponent strike. Centuries ago, the Tsuba was made from stronger metal and was made more for combat. Later when the Japanese were in a period of peace, around 1600 to 1880 AD, the Tsuba was created more for decoration and made of gold and other metals which had no combat value. How do I make a full Samurai Kimono? I was wondering how i would make a samurai Kimono, not the one with all the armour but the one with the split pants that (sorta puff out a bit) what fabric is best? what site what site is best for measurements to use, and how do I wear it? also any tips on mounting a katana or wakizashi to the belt? The split pants you are referring to is called a Hakama. You can Google it for instructions on how to make one. There are two ways to mount a sword on one's obi or belt. The first one is the Tachi mounting which requires you to hang the sword from your belt by your side with the use of a cord with the sword blade facing down. This is the mounting used for cavalry, so you can draw the sword with ease while on horseback. The other way to mount the sword is the Uchigatana mounting. Basically, you just insert the sword through your obi with the blade facing up and tie it to your belt with a small cord that's already tied to your scabbard to prevent it from slipping. This mounting is what's used in most Japanese sword fighting styles like Kenjutsu and Iaido. Hope that helped.

This 40 Inch Red Japanese Katana Sword w Dragon Tsuba and Scabbard is a great addition to your sword collection or can be a wonderful choice as your first sword. This is a weapon stepped in hundreds of years of Japanese warrior history. The katana sword history is virtually paralleled with the history of the Samurai, the warrior class, which followed a strict code directing their lives called "Bushido."

The Way of the Warrior

This code - Bushido - is loosely similar to the Code of Chivalry espoused by European Medieval knights at around the same time in history. Its philosophy stressed the importance of living a life of loyalty, frugality while mastering martial arts and living honourably until dying. Samurai life was typified through embracing this philosophy as well as personified through swordsmanship in which the katana played a significant role.

Tied to the Individual Spirit

An ancestor of this 40 Inch Red Japanese Katana Sword w Dragon Tsuba and Scabbard was believed to be spiritually tied to its individual owner. The special katana would be specifically individually created for a Samurai warrior that would become a family heirloom along with accompanying weapons of a wakizashi (short sword) and a tanto (dagger).

This sword emerged from the 16th century as the preferred weapon of the Samurai warrior class. It is usually accompanied by a shoto, or short sword like a wakizashi or a dagger, known as a tanto. Paired together, the two are known as daisho, worn proudly by a Samurai warrior representing honor, social standing as well as being the very soul of the wearer.

The daisho (long and short swords) include the slashing and cutting katana along with the close-quarter stabbing wakizashi or tanto which were also employed in ritual suicide or seppuku. The katana was worn by the warrior with the cutting edge face up. The actual maneuver for drawing and cutting either the katana became an art form known as iado whose practitioners take several years to master the move.

Distinctive Appearance

The katana is a slender, curved, single-edged blade possessing a circular or squared hand guard known as a tsuba. It has a long grip handle that allows for two-hand wielding. Prehistory

In 1941 the Imperial Japanese Army occupied the Philippines, where they obtained a Bantam Mk II, and promptly brought it to Japan. The Japanese military authorities commanded Toyota to make a similar vehicle but to not model the appearance on the American Jeep. The prototype was called the Model AK and was formally adopted by The Japanese Imperial Army as the Yon-Shiki Kogata Kamotsu-Sha ( The Imperial era 2604th model compact cargo-truck ).

Later in 1941 the Japanese government asked Toyota to produce a light truck for the Japan military campaign. Toyota developed a 1/2 ton prototype called the AK10 in 1942. The AK10 was built using reverse-engineering from the Bantam GP. There are no known surviving photographs of the AK10. The only known pictorial representations are some rough sketches. The truck featured an upright front grille, flat front wheel arches that angled down and back like the FJ40, headlights mounted above the wheel arches on either side of the radiator and a folding windshield.

The AK10 used the 2259 cc, 4-cylinder Type C engine from the Toyota Model AE sedan with a three-speed manual transmission and two-speed transfer gearbox connected to it. There is no mechanical relationship between the AK10 and the postwar Toyota "Jeep" BJ. Most of the AK10's were not actively used (unlike the U.S. Jeep) and there are almost no photographs of it in the battlefield.

1950 - The Korean War created demand for a military light utility vehicle. The war put a Jeep on Japan's doorstep. The United States government ordered 100 vehicles with the new Willys specs and Toyota was asked to build them.

1951 - The Toyota "Jeep" BJ prototype was developed in January 1951. This came from the demand for military-type utility vehicles, much like the British Land Rover Series 1 that appeared in 1948. The Jeep BJ was larger than the original U.S. Jeep and more powerful thanks to its Type B 3.4-liter six-cylinder OHV Gasoline engine which generated 85 hp (63 kW) at 3600 rpm and 215 Nm (159 lbft) torque at 1600 rpm. It had a part-time four-wheel drive system like the Jeep. Unlike the Jeep, however, the Jeep BJ had no low-range transfer case.

1951 - In July 1951, Toyota's test driver Ichiro Taira drove the next generation of the Jeep BJ prototype up to the sixth stage of Mount Fuji, the first vehicle to climb that high. The test was overseen by the National Police Agency (NPA). Impressed by this feat, the NPA quickly placed an order for 289 of these offroad vehicles, making the Jeep BJ their official patrol car.

1953 - Regular production of the "Toyota Jeep BJ" began at Toyota Honsya Plant (Rolling chassis assembly), and body assembly and painting was done at Arakawa Bankin Kogyo KK, later known as ARACO (now an affiliate of Toyota Auto Body Co.). The "Toyota Jeep BJ" Series was introduced alongside the following:

1954 - The name "Land Cruiser" was created by the technical director Hanji Umehara. "In England we had another competitor - Land Rover. I had to come up with a name for our car that would not sound less dignified than those of our competitors. That is why I decided to call it 'Land Cruiser'," he recalls.

1954 - The 125 hp, 3.9-liter Type F gasoline engine added for the fire-engine chassis. Models are renamed as:

1955 - The Second generation, 20 Series was introduced. It was designed to have more civilian appeal than the BJ for export reasons. It also had more stylish bodywork and a better ride thanks to longer four-plate leaf springs which had been adapted from the Toyota Light Truck. It had a more powerful 3.9-liter six-cylinder Type F gasoline engine. The interior of the vehicles were made more comfortable by moving the engine 120 mm (4.7 in) forward. The 20 Series still had no low range, but it had synchromesh on the third and fourth gears.

1958 - The first Station wagon Land Cruiser was introduced with an even longer 2,650 mm (104.3 in) wheelbase (the FJ35V; wagon and van). The FJ25 production started in Brazil being the first Toyota vehicle built outside Japan.

1957 - A 4-door Station Wagon was added as the FJ35V. Land Cruisers were first imported into Australia by B&D Motors as FJ25/28 cab chassis with Australian made bodies. They were the first Japanese cars to be regularly exported to the country and were initially used in the Snowy Mountains Hydroelectric Scheme.

1960 - The 20 Series was upgraded to the now classic 40. Toyota made many production changes by buying new steel presses. Mechanically, the FJ40 was given a new 125 hp, 3.9 liter F engine and the Land Cruiser finally received low-range gearing. The Brazilian model was rebadged the Bandeirante and received a Mercedes-Benz built Diesel engine generating 78 hp.

1965 - Global production surpassed 50,000 vehicles.

The Land Cruiser was the best selling Toyota in the United States.

1968 - The 100,000th Land Cruiser was sold worldwide.

1972 - The 200,000th Land Cruiser was sold worldwide.

1973 - The 300,000th Land Cruiser was sold worldwide.

The first diesel Land Cruiser was introduced for export on long wheelbase models with a six-cylinder H engine[citation needed].

1974 - A four-cylinder 3.0-liter B diesel was offered. The introduction of this engine boosted sales in Japan by putting the Land Cruiser in a lower tax compact Freight-car category than its 3.9-liter gasoline version. Note: the new B diesel engine was different from the B gasoline engine used in the original BJ.

1975 - The 3.9-liter gasoline engine was replaced by a larger, more powerful 4.2-liter 2F unit.

The FJ55 received front disc brakes.

1976 - United States-version FJ40 Land Cruisers received front disc brakes like the FJ55.

The Toyota Land Cruiser Association was founded in California.

1977 - The Irish Army took delivery of the first of 77 FJ45 Land Cruisers. Although fast, reliable and with good off-road performance the type tended to rust excessively in the wet Irish climate. A few which did not succumb to the effects of weather were repainted in gloss olive green and survive as ceremonial gun tractors at military funerals.

1978 - The first BJ / FJ40 and FJ55 models were officially sold in West Germany with both diesel (BJ40) and petrol engines (FJ40 /55).

1979 - United States-version FJ40s were updated this year with a new wider, square bezel surrounding the headlights.

Power steering and cooler were offered in FJ40s for the first time.

The diesel engine was improved, evolving into the 3.2-liter 2B only in Japan.

The 3.6-liter H diesel engine was optional in some markets.

1981 - the Diesel version received front disc brakes and the more powerful 3.4-liter 3B engine.

1967 - Production of the FJ55 began. The FJ55 was a 4-door station wagon version based on the FJ40's Drive-train, replacing the 4-Door FJ45V (I). It was colloquially known as the "Moose". It has also been referred to as a pig or an iron pig. The FJ55 had a longer wheelbase 2710 mm and was designed to be sold in North America and Australia.

Jan 1975 saw the F engine replaced by the 2F engine. Unusually for Toyota, the model (eg FJ55) did not change.

Model 56 is in Japan only, with 2F engine ( Jan. 1975 - Jul. 1980 ).
